Cartoons & Curiosities

Like many Artists (and even though we’re told we should stick to one style), I love exploring new things.

Often I do this in my sketchbooks (of which, I’ve far too many….).

Sometimes though, I do it in ways I can share with you.

That’s what’s in this gallery.

This fella and his dog turn up from time to time. They’re searching for something in life, though they nor I know what it is. Often they find a tree to shelter under.

Pilgrim and Dog wander through the world. Uphill is as good as downhill. There’s no destination, only the journey.

This is charcoal overpainted with a sepia ink glaze. It came out looking really wonderful.

I’ve never been able to reproduce the effect.

I combined an ink print from a piece of ornamental grass I ‘borrowed’ from a neighbour’s garden, with an imagined background. I like the tension between the painting and printing

Storm on the Forest

Ink on wet paper. When storms hit Fanad, they really hit. This was one of those days when everything outside the window was in wild motion.
